Edmund Hilary wanted to call his autobiography ‘A battle against boredom’.
There’s a human truth in there, that life, existence, survival and relationships are not really that exciting or thrilling.
And maybe part of our narrative fallacy is born of that truth. So we look for stories that contradict that truth.
It’s as much the fault of society as it is historians that we have amplified and overimagined the facts of history.
