Who Are You?

discovering ourselves by sharing our hopes and fears

doof is a public art experiment. It aims to help us discover ourselves and those we care about by posing us simple meaningful questions which require a little thoughtful consideration to answer.

Life is short. Years fly by in a heartbeat. It’s easy to get trapped in the day-to-day and miss out on the big picture. As self-actualizing human beings, it’s imperative we stop from time to time and think about who we really are, what we want our lives to be, and how we wish to be remembered long after we’re gone.

Questions can catapult us out of the here-and-now and help us transcend to a deeper and more honest mindset. A mindset that helps us think with clarity, truth and perspective. Putting to paper our unbridled hopes, desires and fears is invigorating and nerve-wracking. It helps us uncover our true essence and aids us to live with depth and meaning.

I am fascinated by the work of Taiwanese American artist Candy Chang. Her Before I Die art installations were hugely evocative for me and served as the initial inspiration for this project. She has my gratitude.

Sharing our hopes and fears, confessing our indiscretions and longings is incredibly cathartic. It cleanses and purifies. It has the power to renew and restore.

Let’s #discover #ourselves #together
