Kanye’s presence is his Doppels Day present
Yeezy attempted to put on a surprise birthday concert at in lieu of his cancelled Gov Ball performance.
Superstar rapper/producer Kanye West has a lot to be proud of as he turns 38 on Wednesday. He is raising a growing family with dream girl Kim Kardashian. The second edition of his Yeezy Season fashion collection dropped in stores nationwide today, with his grey Adidas Yeezy Boost 750 sneakers will drop on Saturday.
Nothing makes Kanye prouder than his music, though. Due to his continued success with innovative album The Life of Pablo, Yeezy had the opportunity to do what he loves and bless adoring fans during his set at the Governors Ball music festival in New York City. However, severe thunderstorms led to the show being cancelled. Undeterred, Ye pressed on. After a family Doppels Day dinner with Kim and adorable daughter North at Cipriani, West hit the Meadowlands to rock the stage at Hot 97’s Summer Jam in a surprise performance. He performed to the delight of shocked fans alongside G.O.O.D. Music comrades, 2 Chainz, Pusha T, Big Sean and Travis Scott. A custom cake comprised of orange letters that spelled out “PABLO” was shared backstage.
Kanye still felt the need to make up the performance Mother Nature cancelled. Earlier in the night, Ye’s collaborator, Virgil Abloh, announced a surprise performance at 2 AM at an unknown NYC location via Instagram. That post was followed up by Kim Kardashian posting a Snap of Kanye on the phone with NY Mayor Bill de Blasio about shutting down the block around Webster Hall downtown. Thousands of thirsty Kanye West fans descended upon Webster Hall in the dead of night for the performance. KimYe arrived in a car, with ye greeting fans through the sunroof. Yeezus’ appearance was comparable to one of Pope Francis’ before police came and broke up the party.
Kanye has told us before that his presence is a present. Ye granted fans that special present on his Doppels Day. Not to mention, although he didn’t get to perform like he wanted to, he still had his own personal parade.
