President Obama serenades daughter Malia on her 18th Doppels Day
The President fulfilled his paternal duty to embarrass his daughter
Doppels connects users with the same birthday for mass celebrations every day. Appropriately, Malia Obama, daughter of President Barack Obama, shares her Doppels Day with the United States of America on July 4th.
Yesterday, the Obama's celebrated Malia’s 18th birthday on what would be the First Family’s last Independence Day in the White House. Malia was able to celebrate her entrance into adulthood with performances by premier Compton emcee Kendrick Lamar and R&B starlet Janelle Monae. However, President Obama also performed for his daughter, fulfilling his paternal duty to embarrass his daughter. He led everyone in the place in a special singing of “Happy Birthday,” rendering Malia bashful. At the end, the father and daughter shared a warm embrace.
Not only will this be the Obamas’ last days in the White House, it will be their last days with Malia in their home. The scholarly, eldest First Daughter will be attending Harvard for her freshman year of college. The family’s 4th of July/Doppels Day celebration was truly a special one for them.
