The Best of Anime 2022 | Best Waifus of the Year
Introduction
The year 2022 is coming to an end and while most of us must have had hardships throughout the year, we should instead remember the good things that happened as we want our 2023 to also come with such good stuff.
So what’s best to think about then the Waifus?
Admittedly, there are a lot of better things out there but for people like you and me, it’s the best we can get and, to be honest, Waifus aren’t that bad either. For example, you wouldn’t need to spend a lot of money or time on your Waifu (Unless, you’re one of those obsessive people who like to marry cardboard cut-outs).
Anyway, enough with the nonsense (Sorry, I didn’t really have much to say in the intro)
Let’s get into my list for the Best Waifus of 2022.
But before we get into it, I want to make it clear that this list is based on my personal opinion, so this is the only list that matters on the internet and everything written here is objectively correct.
Winter 2022- Marin Kitagawa from My Dress-up Darling
Well, the first season of the year had some big hitters to start it all of. One that sort of stands out (for good or for bad) is My Dress-up Darling.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I liked the show and thought it was pretty interesting, however, the way it started showing up everywhere and the amount of people who started singing the anime’s praises somewhat took the fun out of me.
That being said, Marin is probably an undisputed pick for the Waifu of Winter as, there wasn’t much competition for her and yes, I’m aware of Attack on Titan: Final Season Part 93 aired the same season, but at this point, I doubt any character from that series can be put into trivial categories such as Waifu/Husbando anymore.
So, for winter 2022, I choose Marin Kitagawa.
Honorable mention: Akane Ryuuzouji from World’s End Harem (Cultural Anime).
Spring 2022- Kaguya Shinomiya from Kaguya Sama: Ultra Romantic
Probably the most stacked season when it comes to the sheer amount of great Waifus that I could’ve possibly picked from. Despite that, I barely had any doubt on which Anime to choose from as we had Kaguya-Sama season 3 in spring 2022.
However, picking between Kaguya and Hayasaka became quite the nuisance. Hayasaka has been one of, if not the most likable supporting characters since her debut and she’s very good in Ultra Romantic too but, considering the entire narrative of the anime, I had to go for Kaguya Shinomiya because for me, she was more deserving of the best girl tag for Spring.
Honorable Mentions: Ai Hayasaka from Kaguya-Sama: Ultra Romantic, Yor Forger from SpyXFamily and Komi Shouko from Komi-San Can’t Communicate 2.
Summer 2022- Chisato Nishikigi from Lycoris Recoil
Okay, so I have a lot to say about Lycoris Recoil but I’ll probably save it for another day, however, long story short, I didn’t give the anime much thought and went into it with almost no expectations and to my surprise, I ended up liking it quite a lot.
One of the biggest reasons why I ended up liking the show has to be the cast of characters and to be exact, the main girls
I do like Takana but I prefer Chisato over her, so I decided to go for her. That being said, Chisato got good competition for the crown from Suzune Horikita, who, in my opinion, is just as good as Chisato, but I prefer Lycoris Recoil over Classroom of the Elite so Chisato gets it.
Honorable Mentions: Suzune Horikita from Classroom Of The Elite and Chizuru Mizuhara from Rent-A-Girlfriend Season 2 (Decent Waifu from crap show).
Fall 2022- Lum from Urusei Yatsura
Now, I know that this isn’t a very popular pick considering we had Chainsaw Man in Fall 2022 and Makima is a big deal now and, I love Makima, she would win it if she was in any other season but for Fall, I need to go for Lum.
I never completed the old Urusei Yatsura anime but, I had watched enough to know how the show works and I already liked Lum as a Waifu before the start of the 2022 remake of Urusei Yatsura.
Despite that, I wouldn’t have known just how much I would end up liking this remake of the classic anime and just how much more appreciation I would gain for Lum.
In all honesty, there’s no real quality in Lum that makes her special as she is just a typical green-haired anime girl.
However, the main point here is that she is a Green-Haired anime girl….. That much is more than enough for me to crown Lum as the best girl of Fall 2022.
Honorable Mentions: Makima, Power and Himeno from Chainsaw Man, Mongfa from Love Flops, Akari Watanabe from FuuKoi and Chigiri Hyoma from Blue Lock (JK)
Conclusion
All in all, this was a fairly enjoyable blog to write. I know that this is unlike most of my other blogs and that is because I want to be a bit loose and casual about this series as I don’t want to act all smart and knowledgeable but be a bit more of my usual self.
