This is the application for DRF’s remote HQ team — for applications to our investment teams in Boston, NYC, Philadelphia and San Francisco, go here.
Hi. We’re Dorm Room Fund — a student-run venture fund and community that is the best way for student founders to grow their start up. Built by students and powered by First Round, we provide founders with a strong network of investors, world-class mentors, and a $20,000 check. And we want you to apply to join our team as a marketer, content guru, designer, or engineer.
DRF isn’t a garden variety entrepreneurship club: over the last 7 years, our startups have gone on to raise over $500M in follow-on investments from top VCs and have created over $1.5B in enterprise value.
As a venture capital fund, our largest responsibility, aside from making sound investments, is the way in which we support our community and our companies. Enter the HQ team.
The HQ team, if you haven’t guessed yet, is the bones of DRF — we’re the internal engine that keeps the machine humming. Whether digging in on one of our founders’ go-to-market strategies, drumming up genius branding for our Female Founder Track, or helping unstick a line of code on the next best VC tool, our founders and our partners count on us to help make the magic happen — and tell the story. We’re the first call for our founders in need, and for our fellow investment partners when they have a new idea.
Working closely with our CEO Molly Fowler and COO Chauncey Hamilton, we’re in charge of providing supreme portfolio support to our founders and investment partner teammates as well as nurturing our thought leadership and content — all while serving as the voice for student entrepreneurship on campuses across the nation. HQ is comprised of marketing ninjas, fantastic developers, and world-class designers, all of whom are students. Members of our HQ team have gone on to found venture-funded startups, grow businesses to millions in revenue, become first engineers at some of the nation’s hottest startups, and have led teams in senior positions at tech companies post-grad.
The best part? Our HQ team is growing! We are recruiting one new marketing partner, a new head of content, two new engineers, and a designer to take over where our beloved Albert Dong left off — and we want you! Scroll down for details on the roles.
For all roles, to be eligible to apply, you must be:
⚡️ An active, full-time student, currently enrolled in an accredited academic institution (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, JD, MBA, etc.), with at least one full year left in your program.
⚡️ Willing to commit 10+ a week to DRF.
Deadline to apply: Sunday, Sept. 29th @ 11:59pm.
There’s no substitute for experience — and our marketing partners gain just that. Working alongside some of the most talented founders in the nation, our marketing partners roll up their sleeves and dive in on the core strategic challenges that make our companies — and our community — thrive. (Check out our list of community companies here for a taste of the amazing founders you’ll get to work with).
This means impactful work at the earliest stages of a company’s life on things like growth strategies, brand identities, product marketing, and community building for some of the hottest student startups. You’ll also be responsible for growing and scaling the presence of DRF — the premier student investment fund— across North America.

Head of Content
Communities today live online and offline, and it is good storytelling and communication that is at the heart of the strongest of those communities, regardless of their platform. Dorm Room Fund’s new Head of Content will serve as the voice of the DRF community.
DRF’s content does more than just inform our founders and our partners: DRF is a home for the entire student entrepreneur ecosystem. Whether we’re sharing the latest tips on hiring your first engineer, sharing our “How to Start a Startup” series for universities across our network, or connecting top talent to job opportunities, DRF’s channels help founders and student entrepreneurs inside our community and out — regardless of their university or location.
What will you do as our Head of Content?
⚡️You will serve as the voice of DRF — helping founders and budding VCs across the country with sage advice, awesome connections, and the occasional well-placed meme.
⚡️You will work with partners and guest creators to develop a full suite of integrated content, including: medium, social, spotlight pieces, e-books, website content and interviews for our podcast.

⚡️ You are a talented writer and an online raconteur.
The DRF engineers keep our community humming. As a member of our engineering team, you will hone your technical skills with work on real-world products that help create companies and make investments — which in our opinion is pretty awesome. We build with the latest and greatest and own everything from design to development to deployment. The best part is you get to do all this while learning from the inside what venture capital is like — something most engineers don’t get the chance to do.
What will you do as our Engineering Partner?
⚡️ You will build software and models to support student entrepreneurs and partners at DRF.
⚡️ You will help founders turn their dreams into reality, and be willing to experiment and learn the best tools for each job.
⚡️ You will move fast, take initiative, and work in startup-like environments.

Good design is at the heart of DRF’s ethos: we love to make things work, make them beautiful, and make them serve our community. Whether creating new assets for Dorm Room Fund’s brand and marketing, directing the product design of internal tools, or advising founders on their UI, DRF designers impact the long term success of our community and our community companies. As part of the team, you will have access to top notch design tools and a team of engineers who can help bring your ideas to reality. The best part: you get to do all this while learning from the inside what venture capital is like — a unique window in for any designer.
