Have you ever sat down to journal your thoughts, only to grow more upset because you can’t find a word that adequately describes your emotions? Why does this frustrate us? Linguistic relativity teaches us that having a term for a phenomenon helps us to better perceive and understand it. Essentially, the mere ability to express an idea allows us to. recognize, deconstruct and “deal with it”.

In December of 2017 I came across this list of words for emotions people feel, but can’t explain. Quite a few of them struck chords, as I expect many will for you, but in December of 2017, one word in particular…
