Caterpillar Inc. (commonly known as CAT) designs, develops, engineers, manufactures, markets, and sells machinery, engines, financial products, and insurance to customers via a worldwide dealer network, to which Fabick Cat belogs to. It is the world’s largest construction-equipment manufacturer.

Caterpillar divides its products, services, and technologies into three principal lines of business: machinery, engines, and financial products for sale to private and governmental entities. In this blog, we will concentrate on reviewing machinery, our main selling focus at Fabick Cat. There are approximately 400 Caterpillar products available through its dealer network, including tracked tractors, hydraulic excavators, backhoe loaders, motor graders, off-highway trucks, wheel loaders, agricultural tractors, and locomotives. Caterpillar’s equipment is used in a variety of industries, including construction, road-building, mining, forestry, energy, transportation, and material-handling.

In this first blog post, we will review Caterpillar 725 Base chassis articulated off-road truck. In general, articulated trucks have a wide variety of uses and can haul a variety of materials in a variety of terrains. The features of simplistic operation, automotive comfort, combined service points, and extended service intervals let you spend less time and money on unnecessary maintenance and servicing.

The particular truck, the 725, has a standard wheel base of 156.7 inches, rated payload of 30.4 ton (US) and its engine model is the Cat C9.3. Enhancements from previous models include new controls, transmission-protection features, hoist-assist system, advanced automatic traction control system, automatic retarder control, stability-assist machine rollover warning system, and a fuel saving ECO mode.

In sum, these enhancements lead to three main benefits: (1) up to 50% less operator input, (2) improved operator comfort, and (3) improved performance — Increased productivity, improved acceleration and speed performance increase on grades lead to improved performance.

Finally, in this model, the traction control system is fully automatic, and it detects when the steering is active so it can engage the differential locks when the truck is turning. The Equipment World blog recently published a review comparing trucks from different brands and Catterpillar came up first due to this final feature. Read more here.
