Father’s Day wishes to my kids

Today, September, 2nd, 2018, is Father’s Day here in Australia. This year, instead of the usual practice of reading loving messages from my kids (hint, hint), I want to say something about them.

Being a father is one of the most exciting, fulfilling, rewarding and awe-inspiring experiences in my life. I love seeing who my kids have become, and are becoming. I love that I learn from my kids about how the world works, through how they view and experience their everyday lives; through their formal educational experiences, and simply from the fact that they are different people to me.

Something that gives me a huge amount of satisfaction, and wonder, is that even though my children will always be my children, they aren’t children any longer. These three people, who used to be little humans who were totally dependent on their mum & me, are now people with whom I have adult conversations, live through adult life-experiences with, and who help me to be a better adult myself.

Hannah, Katelyn & Jacob, I love you all and am blessed to be your father.
