A lawyer friend of mine told me decades ago (in the UK) that most people commit a crime every week. He also said that even if you knew all possible law and its ramifications (which he was quite candid was impossible) it would be hard to live one month without a choice between breaking one law or another.
The bit about it being legal to carry a gun but not knuckle-dusters is crazy to learn! So much of what I read of Americans declaring the right to carry guns turns out to be little other than Americans supporting another arm of the military weapon industry, rather than holding to principles of the right to defend.
It is a pity that police are blamed for stupid laws. It shows a lack of education in the judicial process. It also reveals a lack of understanding of why and how to be engaged in democratic politics, rather than just parrot that one's country is somehow the ‘most democratic’.
