A proportion of the pro-abortion argument is that a human fetus is not life. It is just some matter that can be disposed of as we would the clippings from our fingernails.

A meme could picture a bush and a baby and ask the same thing of ‘what is life’ but the (science) world has recently been promoting simple cellular reproduction itself – a level so low it can neither be said to be plant nor animal – as proof of life.

The Mars ‘is there life’ question would imply where scientists set the bar on the abortion issue and may make other people consider the matter for their own ethics, too.
