It is about cost.

I won’t address the issue(s) of filibustering; I don’t know the problems Davies foresaw, which might for all I know be well worth the cost of a £1m to avoid poor legislation.

As for the FOIs costing £10,000 or more. I only wish all politicians were so diligent. I would be happy for MPs to spend around another £1m between them so that they all knew more about the topics they are discussing, which in financial terms alone amount to over £750 billion.

I’ve had an MP in the past who knew almost nothing about anything – just a waste of space, in my opinion. I prefer to have someone with informed opinions who can argue his points and will listen to evidence.

I think Philip Davies deserves our support for standing up against those who want him sacked for telling the truth.
