I can’t agree with this more. Life is like bubbles in a river. They appear and disappear while hardly anyone notices in the grand scale of time. Hojoki, written in 1212 during the early Kamakura period in Japan, is one of the most influential works I’ve read on impermanence/evanescence from a Buddhist perspective. If Catherine’s words resonated with you, you’d find Hojoki a delightful read.
