All have been thoughtfully planned. Whatsoever he wants to do with his personality is well prepared. He came fully prepared. Buddha was the first in the sense that he had to bring with him a new system of sadhanas. Hence, Buddha had to go through another path. It is interesting to note that this created an illusion that Buddha went through sadhana himself. In fact, Buddha understood in his previous life. During this birth, he was only distributing the crops that he had harvested before. But Buddha did not have an organized belief behind him. Buddha’s search was entirely his own. He created a new path for himself. On that same mountain where the broad highway was already, he made a new path. Mahavira was walking on a ready-made royal path, but he had to proclaim it because people very often tend to forget such things.

But the path was there for him. Buddha had to explore a new earth, so he made a different kind of arrangement in his life. First he went through all kinds of sadhanas. And after going through each such sadhana, he says that it is useless and that nobody can reach anywhere through it. This, one might say, is a very much pre-arranged thing very thoughtfully arranged! The person who wants to introduce a new metaphor will have to declare that all the old meticulousness is false.
