Yes that is a fair point. I think in the age of the pill and abortion we are encouraged to see sex as completely separate from reproduction. I mentioned abortion in an article recently and someone was arguing that abortion should be a right because sexual pleasure is a right and you should essentially have the freedom to have it without the government forcing you to accept its consequences. That's a long way from simply protecting the health or autonomy of women in situations of desperation. It seems completely mad to be able to see sex as nothing but a disposable pleasure evolution has given you for no reason rather than for relation and reproduction, but that seems to be where we are.
