White People Are A Little Too Damn Happy About Trevor Noah vs. Tomi Lahren
David Dennis, Jr.

As a white, straight, cis-gendered, middle-class male, I know that I did not do enough to utilize my privilege to change the course of the future, while my conservative counter-parts were using their same privilege to reaffirm and reproduce their privilege. That said, I’m not sure of the point of this article. Would the author rather have had the debate never occur at all, or is he simply upset by the reception of the debate? As unfair and absurd as it is, the debate must happen; we cannot turn our heads from a budding fascist tendency. I’m here to help; tell me what I can do. My response was not one of glee but rather one of frustration. I’m with you, but I’m unsure of how such blanket statements regarding identity markers will be in any way strategic. There are plenty of white people who did not rejoice in response to this debate. That doesn’t mean I’m not at all guilty, but it does mean that political rhetoric should be kairotic in its intention and execution. #withyou
