Maybe we are arguing semantics here, but unless you are trying to promote a visceral reaction through protesting the government, or you are stuck in a blizzard and there is only a flag to burn for warmth, there really aren’t any reasons to burn a flag, which Clinton’s bill would have responded to and Trump’s tweet acknowledged. I’m fine and dandy with fines and jail for ANY flag burning. It’s unproductive and disrespectful and any violence created by the flag burning should be protected under the law (i.e., the flag-burners get their teeth knocked in) as free speech, but only in a perfect world. You can talk in circles all you want, they both wanted the same thing.
