Sukarno was great. He was also overthrown and then killed, nearly 50 years ago, with US backing, and everything he stood for systematically dismantled. Now, Indonesia has according to Oxfam the 6th highest inequality in the world. Your description of Indonesia today comes from a bizarre parallel universe which sounds like what might have been had Sukarno survived. Every account of Indonesia I’ve ever heard makes clear that Indonesia is a hell of corruption, hyperexploitation and lack of the most basic services.
