Muscle Memory Blessings
If dancing is your passion, then memory takes a very important role in it. When we are confident with the steps, we can enjoy the performance.
The moment we enjoy, we add a personalised style to it which connects with audience. Expressions are natural to a girl which makes us enjoy the dance moves.
Be it any style of dance, there are transitions of positions and footwork. There is a difference between ‘marking’ of a step and extreme efforts. We have to stay in between these two cases. Dance should always look effortless — That’s the main motive for choreographers, dancers and the dance audience.
To get to the basics, music is usually made out of 8 beats. It is Sa — Re- Ga- Ma-, Pa- Da- Ni- Sa. Hence, we count 1–2–3–4 and 5–6–7–8. While learning a move for each beat of music, we need to connect all the dots to make a flow. There are exceptions of songs with 6 beats. For Example: “Teri Deewani” sung by Kailash Kher.
When our friends say they “listen” to the music, for dancers it natural to not just list listen, but in fact we need to catch the “beats” and “feel” the lyrics. Mentally, we dancers have images of us choreographing the moves like — 5, 6.7, and 8 to those grooves :)
Yes, as you guessed we are physically lost in the situation and we appear on the dance floor in front of the mirror with our cool moves.
It is fun to be a corporate on weekdays and a crazy, hyperactive dancer on weekends ;-) Dance is my most favourite stress-buster and I love to work harder on myself :) Dance gives me pleasure to my soul and gives me a satisfaction in my life. Always follow your passion. I hope I inspired you to take up yours.
