SAP Business One: To generate this document, first define the numbering series in the Administration module (Fixed)

If you encounter the error message “To generate this document, first define the numbering series in the Administration module” when attempting to create documents, e.g., add an AR invoice, as shown in the image below:

This error message occurs due to one of the following:

1. No default series created for such document
2. Series is locked in Document numbering
3. Series is assigned for a specific period indicator rather than the one used.

Solution:

To resolve this, navigate to Administration -> System Intialization -> Document Numbering -> Select the document object and ensure the following:

1. Check the default period indicator
2. Check locked option
