Endocrinology -staying up to date

Its now coming on two months since that great day I completed my endocrinology residency. A peaceful time, marked by reconnecting with close family (where were you?) and old friends (who are you again?).

After suitable apologies, and the appropriate levels of quality time, I find myself haunted by the old story about learning being like rowing upstream. Once you stop rowing , you’re going in reverse. Accompanied by this is the feeling of knowledge slowly leaking out of its temporary storage spaces. Instead of dusting off my old textbooks, I decided to take another approach, to research learning, in the hope of finding a less painful way to start up.

What I really want to do is integrate what I learned so far, and keep up to date, while managing clinical work, health and family. In truth , put in that way, I doubt any clinician can spare more than an hour to spare, once she’s out of the fly swatting waiting for patients to show up phase of her life cycle.\

The first book I read, Benedict Carey’s How We Learn. I’ll review this book in my next session, as well as demonstrating the use of kindle flashcards.
