Want Reassurance? ChatGPT Can Help
I want constant reassurance that I matter and that my efforts matter.
Don’t we all?
Life moves fast. It’s complicated, overwhelming, and filled with endless stressors. In the midst of this chaos, very few people have the capacity to consistently offer reassurance to others. Not because they don’t care, but because they’re just as exhausted and preoccupied as we are.
Offering encouragement requires noticing others’ contributions and then taking the extra step to acknowledge and celebrate them. Unfortunately, that’s rare these days, which means many of us are basically running on empty when it comes to positive reinforcement. And it’s hard to keep moving forwarding when we feel unacknowledged or ignored.
Think about it:
- Your kid is sick.
- There’s a reorg at work.
- Your spouse got laid off.
- Unexpected bills keep showing up.
- You have a new health concern.
And that’s just your life. Multiply that by everyone around you, and it’s no wonder we often feel unseen and unappreciated.
What We Usually Do
Typically, we turn to friends and family for support. But even our loved ones are stretched thin, dealing with their own struggles and desperately searching for their own reassurance. Their ability to provide meaningful encouragement is inconsistent at best.
Therapy and coaching are other valuable sources. A professional can offer validation and support — for about an hour a week (if you can afford it). But what about the other 167 hours? Where do we turn when we need a confidence boost in real-time?
The hard truth is that people, even the ones who love us the most, are quite limited in what they can offer.
So where does that leave us?
A New Source
This is where AI tools like ChatGPT come in. While it’s not a replacement for loved ones or professional help, it is a reliable and judgment-free source of reassurance — 24/7.
When you need encouragement, you don’t have to wait for someone to notice. You can simply ask for it.
How to Get Some Reassurance
- Open ChatGPT.
- Start with this prompt:
“Here’s what I accomplished today: [Describe what you did]. Can you offer some reassurance that I matter and my efforts matter?” - Take in the response. Notice how it feels to be acknowledged.
- Tell ChatGPT what resonated with you. This feedback helps the AI personalize future conversations.
- Revisit this conversation whenever you need more reassurance.
Final Thought
Waiting for others to validate your efforts can be a long, frustrating road — and often, that validation never comes. Not because you don’t deserve it, but because people are distracted, overwhelmed, and waiting for someone to validate them.
Instead of waiting, take action. Ask for the reassurance you need. ChatGPT is always available, ready to remind you that you matter. And you might be surprised by how much better you feel when you finally hear it.
