It’s all about using the right tool for the right job.
What matters is not which language is apparently the most popular or pays the most, but rather, what language is most appropriate for the kind of projects you want to work on. There’s not much point learning Javascript if you’re ultimately interested in embedded systems, for example. Rest assured, if you can code, you’re unlikely to be short of work any time soon.
I’ll finish by saying that (as others have), you could do a whole lot worse than starting out with C. It’s a wonderfully compact language and still very popular, according to IEEE Spectrum:
If you can master C, you can master any language.
