Andy Warhol died in 1987. Its a pity really, him dying just as the first lot of us Millenials were being born. He`d have understood us to the M. And if he was there and did have a blog, that could have very well contained the meaning of life. Atleast our lives. So many trips to Hare Krishna Ashrams could have been saved.

Consider this. Maybe, he understood consumer society even better than a chap called David Ogilvy. And we are pro consumers, whether we know anything else or not, boy do we know how to consume! The only difference with Millenials is that instead of craving Campbell’s Soup and Coca Colas refreshment, we crave experiences apparently. Potato potato.

Apparently, as Millenials, we are convinced of our centrality in all of existence. Thus we even turned the camera around and forever removed the concept of behind the scenes. But life and art by extension are more than what can be explained by a million photographs or a vlog or a selfie (god forbid).

But we need an explanation of our lives. What does it mean. Whats our purpose ? Not since the hippies of the 60’s has a generation so assiduously exposed themselves to others in a sort of a mass personal social petri dish experiment in the hope that they may discover their true essence via the comments of others. We document intimate details of our lives, even the lives of our children, and put it out there for the world to see (and comment on).

We are so keen to know the meaning of our lives that it has become perhaps our only permanent driving force apart from social fame. In a way, we are possessed by it. Like Midas lusted after gold. Even when if we do find the meaning, it may become cold metal, and life may have passed us by, only alive in a Facebook Memory of 5 years ago.

Not being Greek didn't keep Warhol from understanding Pathos. Pathos is not so much being sad but identifying with the being sad. In a way, its just the feeling of sameness. And that enters through cracks in the perfect representation of our meanings of life. These same cracks are the ones assaulted by good advertising. And by Warhols art.

Repeat one thing enough times to a large bunch of folks and everyone gets into ‘the zone’. Oh, thats already happening isn't it? Aren’t all of us sapiosexual and love to travel ? Maybe Mark Zuckerburg is Andy Warhol. Same same but different can sized pieces of humanity in bright, pop colours.
