User Flows — Nuanced Design

Getting to the point of user centered design requires empathizing with the user and understanding every aspect of the interaction between the business goal and user needs to be met. Breaking these interactions down into tasks to be completed by the user gives them a beginning and an end. A lot of this user experience design methodology seems so encompassing that there is no way to start applying it — design debt is coming through as the most obvious no-no.

After breaking these interactions — microcosmic experiences — into tasks with goals at the end, we perform a task analysis wherein each aspect of the process is considered. Being a good designer seems to rely on being thoughtful and considering all aspects of the experience to be designed. Breaking these experiences down into more nuanced versions of themselves keeps the process organized and manageable.
