August 10, 2023 — Week 0

I’ve thought about starting a weekly newsletter for some time. But I hadn’t figured out exactly what I wanted you, the reader, to take away each week.

Then I realized I had been thinking about the take away for a while — curiosity. The exploration new concepts, of researching new interests, of understanding some thing better because you understand another thing.

Fostering curiosity is what I want to put out into the world.

That is the intention of this newsletter: to bring diverse thoughts together in a digestible format with the hopes of sparking a new idea through analogous thinking or connection of unrelated dots.

As I begin graduate school next week, now feels like the right time — a time in which I’ll have ample content to share through lectures, events, and discussions.

So here goes. Below is an outline of what you can expect in the coming weeks.

Readwise Quote

Readwise is a game-changer. Through its read-later and annotation features, I’ve accumulated a repository of quotes & highlights from all books, magazines, and articles I’ve read.

Readwise provides a daily review of 8 reading highlights from your archive to constantly refresh your memory on ideas. These highlights may be from yesterday or three years ago.

Example highlights from my feed

Each week, I’ll share a favorite quote from the 56 highlights provided by Readwise in the past week.

Article

The issue isn’t access to information; it’s overload of information. My goal is to provide you with something unique in this information overloaded world.

My sources for my weekly readings are vast, inclusive of content from MIT and Harvard, industry publications, leading companies, WSJ and NYT, Medium writers (like you!), academic minds & professors, and independent bloggers.

Each week, I’ll share an article with unique perspectives, important insights, or exceptional writing.

Podcast Episode

I’ve transitioned from music to podcasts during my commutes and workouts.

There is something inspiring about listening to words rather than just reading them. You feel the passion and emotions of the individual to a greater extent.

My topics of interest are diverse, ranging from health & fitness to science to self-improvement to business & technology with a handful of others.

Each week, I’ll share a podcast that contains a few nuggets of wisdom (no promises on the topic of said wisdom).

Start-Up

Start-ups continue to disrupt industries and play an important role in solving the world’s most urgent challenges.

Through attending start-up events and incubators in Boston, personal research across potential investment opportunities, and insights from my ‘New Enterprises’ class at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, I have a front-row seat to many innovative start-ups.

Each week, I’ll share insights on a start-up I believe has a strong offering or market position.

An Idea, Learning, or Question

This section is an open space for an idea I came across throughout the week.

It may be a thought-provoking learning, something I found interesting that I want to investigate more, or something to spark a dialogue with you.

Each week, I’ll share an idea, musing, learning, or question. No plan, promises, or expectations what this might look like.

Closing Thought

Not to be regularly included, but a final word for Week 0.

My intention is to create something that keeps each of us accountable to pursuing curiosity and continuous learning.

The aim is for these references to be used as seeds — to allow you to quickly read then dig deeper into an idea / topic that interest you.

My hope is the resources provided give you an occasional spark of interest that leads you down a rabbit hole, connects two unrelated dots, stirs a new curiosity, or lends an idea to think on during your next workout.

And for the many weeks you may not find anything personally interesting, I hope it provides you with a short, unique read as you head into your weekend.

Stay tuned for Week 1.
