All About Mercy For Animals

For my post this week, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite organizations, Mercy For Animals. Mercy For Animals, or MFA, is an organization that believes a humane society is possible. They do pretty incredible work to reduce animal suffering. Their website reads “Inspiring Compassion. Ending Cruelty”. This is a great summary of their mission statement. MFA believes a world where we nurture our bodies with healthy foods that are kind to animals and sustainable for the planet is attainable and the best scenario all around. Not only do they help promote vegan food products, but they also frequently do undercover operations where they gain access to factory farms and other locations where mass amounts of animals are being slaughtered, tortured, deprived of basic needs, or all of the above. In these undercover operations they often bring hidden cameras to show the public exactly how awful these conditions and treatments are. For example, their latest investigation was at Tosh Farms, a JBS supplier. Through hidden camera footage, it was revealed that pigs were being punched and kicked in the face, mother pigs being placed in cages so small they could not even turn around, and piglets being killed by smashing their heads against the ground. All in front of their mothers. No matter what kind of living creature you are, there is no way to justify this disgusting behavior and treatment.
