Day 242: Colorful Comet
Today I had to draw a comet. While for some it might be easy, as I look at it right now I might have screwed up few things. First — colours. There are too many of them. Second, distribution of lines — the biggest should be behind the mass, not outside of it like here. But that wasn’t the point of this drawing.
It was more of a pleasing experience. Slow, steady, fluid lines being drawn. Proper movement of a hand. No need to hurry, just doing the thing. The same with background — just small dots, made slowly, without a problem. Just do it.
And from a point of view of how it looks, I think it went well. It’s aesthetic (to a point).
Now to organisational details. From what I’ve noticed so far I don’t have much time for drawing. I often wound up doing it as almost the last day during the day, with end times reaching 10 pm. So from tomorrow I will try to set up fixed drawing hours, I think it would be best from 5 to 6 pm. That way I will try to draw slowly and carefully, without care of anything else. The second thing is that I don’t use many canvas. I don’t do drafts or anything like that. My drawing program (Sketchbook) only allows three canvas, which might not be enough. So I will start using SAI for that. I downloaded a trial and we’ll see how will that work. Heck, I even opened it today and drew something randomly. Here’s the doodle:

I still have problems with drawing the same thing, but mirrored, but I’m trying to fight it, somehow. And there’s still a problem of drawing straight lines while not making fluid moves — it is a rather large problem as well.
Special shoutout and all the thanks for ideas and tips to @a-capt. I really, really appreciate it.
