A normal heart pumps blood in circulatory manner that is blood-heart-lungs-heart-body. Congenital heart defects are those defects which present at birth which may affect the blood flow through the heart. Congenital heart defects cause the chance of developing medical conditions like Pulmonary Hypertension, Arrhythmias, Infective Endocarditis, Anticoagulation, Congestive Heart Failure

The reasons for congenital heart defects are not known yet. Sometimes the reason for congenital heart disease may be genetic. Some drugs and some infections during the pregnancy can cause congenital heart defects.

Some babies may be blue soon after birth this may be one symptoms for congenital heart defect. the symptoms for congenital heart disease becomes evident during the first months after the birth. Some other symptoms are breathing difficulties, feeding problems, or poor weight gain. Minor heart defects are diagnosed on medical checkups.

If the defect is small, there is no treatment required. If the defect is large cardiac surgery or cardiac catheterization is needed
