How an Authority Figure will earn more than an expert or consultant
As CEO and consultant, I became known as an authority figure in digital marketing and then cyber security. I have worked with others like me, who have experience as experts and consultants. I discovered early on it was best not to work with those who did not have experience. This leaves massive opportunities for those who do.
An Authority Figure has experience
This cannot always be said by an expert or consultant. An experienced person is generally able to cut to the chase and get the job done as the problem has been witnessed and solved before.
The problem with many experts.
An expert will often rely on past data to predict future trends. Most often, we will question the data, its’ source, and even validity. We all know we can spin data to give us any kind of result we want it to give us.
The problem with many consultants
A consultant will often employ interesting triangulation to attempt to model a prognosis for the future based on theory. Yet for most businesses, theorists have the equivalent destructive power of terrorists, who are likely to blow things up, including themselves.
That’s not to say consultants and experts are all bad. As when you find one with actual experience, you might be lucky enough to find a genuine authority.
Many experts and consultants have experience but are not certain about how to be seen as an authority.
I have prepared a free course called the Authority Figure Quest to help.
The course will start shortly.
If you are interested, let me know and I will be certain to send you an invite.
