Run the earth, watch the sky.

I’m not a professional athlete, I’m not anyone famous, I’m not an endurance hobbyist.

I’m a person who likes to be healthy.

To all of the companies that I wear to work out in — can I get some gender non conforming outfits?

Pants don’t quite fit right and fall down when I’m doing my lounges + My practically duct taped together yoga outfits stretch out after about 2 uses + Bras that don’t cover everything I want to be covered.

Oh, and chafing occurs.

Do I not get the opportunity to feel my best in workout clothing? I guess not. Over the years I’ve done my best to find what works with my body, shopping between stereotypical sections that don’t really fit me at all and feeling like a loser.

Terrible memories of having locker room flashbacks to the fear of changing clothes in front of someone else who had a better body than me flood my mind when I’m in a Nike outlet or Dick’s Sporting Goods.

So here, today I visited Teddy Island in DC and I wore all of my exercise favorites to show what works for me.

You see, there are clothes that are super curvy and short seamed from the women’s section and clothes that are super baggy from the men’s section. There’s not much of an inbetween for people like myself.

What I have will suffice for now, but I believe that everyone should be able to feel their best when they’re stretching their bodies towards good health. I’m tired of feeling like an odd ball when I’m out shopping for workout gear — being stared at when I’m in either section of the store.

Today I chose joy over frustration and gave thanks for being able to have a strong body that can run, jump and train for endurance challenges.
