The Mosaic Launch Party

On Tuesday, March 26th the Northeastern Entrepreneurial community gathered together to celebrate the official launch of Mosaic. As we announced earlier this month, Mosaic was created to encourage interdisciplinary interaction between student-led service providers to deliver solutions for the needs of emerging IDEA venture clients. With IDEA in its sixth year of operation, we are excited to continue to collaborate with other Mosaic organizations who bring services and value to entrepreneurs and ventures.

The night began with words from Provost James C. Bean, on the essence of Northeastern one of those being Entrepreneurship & Innovation. “We create an environment in which students, faculty, and alumni are empowered to develop entrepreneurial collaborations and innovative enterprises that advance knowledge and contribute meaningfully to society.”

Dan Gregory, who played a critical role in the creation of Mosaic spoke with excitement and enthusiasm on the purpose of Mosaic and the various branches of the Mosaic Alliance. Following his presentation we watched a short clip celebrating the nine student led organizations around campus and how Mosaic is bringing them together.

The current portfolio of student-led organizations that support the incubation of early stage ventures at Northeastern include:

IDEA (D’Amore-McKim School of Business)

Entrepreneurs Club’s Husky Startup Challenge (D’Amore-McKim School of Business)

IP CO-LAB (School of Law)

Scout (College of Arts, Media, and Design)

Northeastern.io (College of Computer and Information Science)

Connect: An Entrepreneurs Club program that connects

SEISA – Social Enterprise Institute Student Association (Currently within the D’Amore-McKim School of Business)

Biotech Entrepreneurs (College of Engineering)

– Accounting Resource Center (ARC) (Currently in development within the D’Amore-McKim School of Business)

Generate: Hardware prototyping and manufacturing (Currently in development in the College of Engineering)

Each student leader from the nine organizations gave a short introduction on the role their group plays and their key accomplishments from this year and expectations moving forward. We then continued our celebration with Mosaic color themed cupcakes and candy, capturing the moment with polaroid photos, and excitement for what’s to come in the future.
