3 Predictions for the Doctor’s Office of 2020

The doctor’s office of the future is going to be an interesting place to get your medical care. The doctor’s office of the future is going to get more impersonal, and you will probably find yourself dealing with no one at all. Imagine how advanced the doctor’s office will get so that you do not have to do anything but sit in a waiting room.

#1: Medical Testing

You will probably be asked to sit down in front of a machine that you place your arm in. It will check your heart rate and blood pressure. The same machine can probably check the dilation of your pupils, and you can open your mouth so that a small camera can check the inside of your mouth. You have not met a person yet, but you have had all your vital signs checked before someone comes to see you.

#2: Dismissed

The machine in the waiting room is going to allow you to prove that you are feeling well. You can be dismissed from the office if you are feeling well, and you will be done with your physical for the year. The machine will be able to decide how sick you are, and it will be able to give you a prescription without seeing a doctor. This machine is going to be the barrier between you and seeing a real person. It is possible that you might swipe your insurance card in the machine, pay the machine and get a doctor’s note from the machine. The doctor is not going to come out to see you unless you are very sick.

#3: No Insurance

Many doctors are going to stop taking insurance as the whole industry gets more expensive to deal with. Doctors offices will require you to go on a self pay account, and they will not see you unless you are prepared to pay that day. Doctors are getting tired of waiting to get paid, and they are going to start making sure that they get paid on the spot.

Your adventures to the doctor are going to help you get faster care, but you are not going to see a person when you get there. You will sit down at a machine that looks like it belongs next to the pharmacy at a grocery store, and you will be given the services once provided by a doctor without ever seeing a real person.
