Indeed, they are becoming much more similar. Ultimately all strong writing is writing that is clear, concise, and well-supported. If anything, Wikipedia teaches us this. I enjoyed reading your reflection, and I hope you continue to contribute to Wikipedia.
Indeed, passion is difficult to replicate online if your standards are based on the traditional classroom experience. While I, too, have had amazing teachers in my life, I find increasingly that student expectations have changed, and the classroom experience is not what it used to be.
