The Life and Work of Dr. Haider Ali Khan MD
Dr. Haider Ali Khan is a Physician by profession. However, he has been one of the faces that is leading the charge in making the world a better place in his simple yet very profound way. He started the BKH Humanitarian Foundation in 2011.
Its goal is to provide health services, education, and sufficient food for everyone. Dr. Haider is a man of compassion and initiative. His life is that of innovation and leadership. And also, for helping the impoverished and the sickly.
Dr. Haider Ali Khan MD was born and raised in India. He graduated from Millat College in Darbhanga, India. He received Graduate Training at Rajendra Medical College and Darbhanga Medical College in India. After, Dr. Khan trained in General Surgery at Darbhanga Medical College.
He then emigrated to New York. There, he enrolled in the Family Practice Residency Program at Southside Hospital in 1978.
He first worked as a house physician at Good Samaritan Hospital in 1978 for a year. Afterward, he then continued in the same job at Mather Memorial Hospital. Both hospitals are in the State of New York on Long Island. After six years, in 1984, he was appointed as a Family Physician. He then worked in different academic and administrative roles.
He was an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at SUNY Stony Brook Department of Family Medicine. He also worked as an Assistant Medical Director of the Residency Program at Southside Hospital; both in New York State on Long Island.
Also, he’s worked in Texas as the Regional Health Officer in Lipscomb County. And he was the Medical Director of Twin Oaks Nursing Home in Booker.
He was also a member of the Physician Advisory Board of Humana in the Tampa Bay Area. He started private practices on Long Island in New York and New Port Richey in Florida.
“Helping the patient has always been my primary goal,” said Dr. Haider Ali Khan MD. He realized that he could serve more people when he was in the central part of healthcare. He has since been appointed as President for different health organizations from 1997 until today.
Dr. Khan served as the President of Quality Health Plans in Florida and New York. Also, for Delta Medical Care in Florida. He is currently the President of S N S Medical Consulting in Florida.
Dr. Haider Khan is a compassionate person and a born leader. He’s always doing his best to help others. Dr. Khan does not just help the sick. He also supports impoverished by developing beneficial programs. These programs include the Medication Management Program and the Telemedicine model to help patients.
Dr. Khan is the visionary behind the Medication Management Program. It is designed to monitor the medicine intake of the patient. “Being ill is difficult enough, so treatment shouldn’t be an additional stress.”, said Dr. Khan. The program automatically sends a text message to the patient at the prescribed times to take their medication.
But, should the patient did not reply to the reminder, the Medication Management Program alerts the assigned caregiver. The caregiver then checks on the patient. The program, however, is much more intelligent than that. The program creates monthly reports, which are sent to the prescribing physician. The physician uses the reports to monitor the patient’s medication adherence.
The participating pharmacy sends the patient the medication in an easy to use pill pack by mail. The patient no longer needs to go to the pharmacy, and the medication is clearly organized by the scheduled time for dosing.
Dr. Khan has developed many other programs in addition to the Medication Management Program. He also developed the Telemedicine model. The model was designed to make the patients’ medical examination more convenient by providing it in the patients’ homes.
The program works via an interactive video call with the primary physician or nurse practitioner. They are supported by the medical assistant present in the patients’ home. The electronic medical equipment allows the physician or the nurse practitioner to hear internal sounds, such as heart and lung, in real-time.
However, rather amazingly, those aren’t the only programs that Dr. Khan developed. He has developed two other programs. These programs are to make the lives of patients comfortable and improve information accuracy. He designed both the Prescription program and the Electronic Health Record program.
Both programs are on electronic systems and are designed to avoid time delays. They decrease the stress caused by errors and inconvenience. It also secures against the wrongful and fraudulent use of personal information.
Dr. Khan established the BKH Humanitarian Foundation in 2011. The foundation is a community service organization. Its primary objective is providing health services, education, and adequate food for less fortunate.
The BKH Humanitarian Foundation supports the CHS Center in New Port Richey, FL and CHS Center in India. The three organizations help each other to feed the hungry and help each other to provide access to healthcare and education.
Dr. Khan started these organizations with the help of his partners. Its goal to attain fundamental rights for all people, regardless of sex, race, or religion.
A gentle and caring heart, along with initiative and leadership skills, will go a long way. It’s a one in a million chance for a person to have everything — the resources, skills, and heart all at the same time.
It’s incredibly rare. But, once it manifests, it will leave a profound mark in the world. Sometimes, all it takes is one right decision — one correct intuition. And one good answer to change the world.
With the case of Dr. Haider Khan, his decision to emigrate to the United States was right. His initiative to lead and to help the poor and the sick is correct.
The programs that he has developed. The organizations that he joined. They have all changed the world. He made the world a better place in his simple way.
He is more than just the right person. He’s living proof that you can always make a mark in the world. As long as you’re ready to help those in need.
