Why We Can’t Get COVID-19 From a Vaccine

Almost 40% of those who say they won’t get the vaccine are afraid of getting COVID from it. This can’t happen.

With the SARS CoV-2 virus ravaging the world and our country, and more than 100,000 Americans have died as a result, the race for a safe and effective vaccine is moving at a ferocious pace. There are several promising candidates, and it may be possible that a vaccine will be ready as early as this Fall.

That said, even if we have a good vaccine that is safe and effective, will people get the vaccine? A new poll released says maybe not. The AP and NORC conducted a poll May 14–18, 2020 of 1,056 adults. 49% say they would get the vaccine if it is available:

Of those who said they would NOT get a vaccine, 42% said that they worry about getting infected from the vaccine:

Now, a large majority — 70% — of those who don’t want to get the vaccine are legitimately worried about the side…
