Meet Our New Sr. Director of Engineering

Today we announced the newest member of our rapidly growing Drive.ai team: Kah Seng Tay, who joins as our Sr. Director of Engineering.

Our team, now comprised of 60 technical and business leaders, has made massive strides toward achieving our vision for a reimagined relationship between people and transportation. From navigating challenges like driving in the rain to the technology behind how we’re able to get cars on the road quickly and safely, we’ve taken major steps toward building the brain for self-driving vehicles — and Tay serves as an integral player in continuing to make that work a reality.

Tay brings with him nearly 10 years of experience in artificial intelligence, robotics, and scalable architectures. He most recently served as the senior Director of Engineering at Quora, where he built the IT, infrastructure, search and advertising engineering teams from scratch. As employee number 17, Tay helped grow Quora’s team over the course of six years by more than 10x. He played an integral role not only in managing technical direction and goals, but also in developing the company’s engineering leaders. Tay has also held engineering positions at Salesforce, Etacts and Microsoft and has a B.S. and Masters of Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. He is a visionary leader and will be a critical resource as he leads and develops Drive.ai’s technical team.

As our Sr. Director of Engineering, Tay and his team are responsible for advancing the engineering of our revolutionary self driving car brain. He’s responsible for the entire life cycle of modeling, proof-of-concept design, production software design, testing, and user support, and will contribute substantively to the development of ideas for local and global deployment, technical architecture decisions, and building out our engineering teams.
