After seeing spy shots just the other day, it appears the new Corvette has made its singing voice heard over the green hell of the Nurburgring.

Initial rumours suggested the mid-engined C8 would use a Twin-Turbo V8 — but as can be heard, there are no turbos present on this particular example. Whether they will feature on the eventual ZO6 or ZR1 version however is another matter.

What can also be heard clearly is the smooth, fast shifts of an automatic gearbox. We can only hope that a manual will feature amongst the line-up when it eventually makes production.

To my ears, the overall timbre sounds distinctly Corvette-like. There’s a baritone roar that carries throughout the rev-band, providing a sonorous treat no matter what speed you’re doing. Also, I can’t help but notice that this ‘Vette sounds quite a bit sharper than entry level models of the past.

We’ll probably have to wait until next year before any concrete details are published about this car. But from my perspective, it could very well be excellent.

What do you guys think though? Are you looking forward to it, or does it leave you cold for any particular reason? Let me know in the comments.
