A quick lap in a Mazda! — Image from TuningPerformance

What do you do when you are off work for the weekend? Maybe you mow the lawn, or wash your car? This Koenigsegg test driver takes his Mazda MX-5 around the Nurburgring!

Okay, so it is not the basic, standard MX-5. It is heavily modified, but still, a 7:37 lap in a 2.0L car is impressive! The car is a 2007 Mazda MX-5 NC 2.0 Sport Roadster Coupé, with an ECU remap, a replacement 5 speed gearbox, as opposed to the standard 6 speed, as well as a long list of other modifications done to the car.

A 7:37 may not be record breaking, but take into account that a Mercedes AMG GT S did a 7:35 lap, this is impressive for a Mazda! It is understandable to see why the driver gets such a quick lap, with such clean lines in a car that really handles well and carries speed through the corners! The YouTube channel, TuningPerformance has a number of videos showing the car being built.
