The day on-demand Home Care got Personal
Earlier this week, I got the call everyone dreads. My mother had been rushed to hospital after fracturing her neck of humerus. She had been out walking the dog with my Dad and had tripped on a pothole.
It could sound almost comical, except that she was in such pain she could not move without a morphine drip and requires an emergency operation to repin her arm.
Fortunately, as you can see here — she still has her sense of humour intact.

The backstory is that she had been taking steroids for another condition and-almost certainly — this reduced her bone mineral density and contributed to a brittle fracture.
I guess there comes a point when everyone recognises the frailty of their own parents. For me, I have been fortunate to have healthy parents who have active lives well beyond the experience of their parents’ generation.
But events like this make you question — what would I do if my Dad was not there to support her?
