Refreshingly honest post! When the science doesn’t advance (in this case strong AI), marketing picks up the slack. Dressed in the language of human intelligence, the current crop of offerings represent a well-orchestrated illusion — a lie. The assumption is that the technologies being marketed will be perceived as smarter than those buying them. So many pikers prefer to present themselves as experts these days and are naively confident they know just as much as the next guy when it comes to the latest hype. When everyone is an expert, no one is an expert, and gradually facts and reason become useless commodities. This is the environment where the morally challenged thrive.
