Why I’m an Entrepreneur Who Has a Life Coach

“What does living unchained mean to you?”

I ended more than 100 interviews with creatives from over 17 countries with that same question while leading my blog and events company, Live Unchained. The answer I defined for myself is: Having nothing to prove and nothing to hide.

There are always going to be people that try to convince you that you don’t really know what you’re doing or make themselves feel big by playing you small. Whenever I’ve tried to either prove myself to or hide from these people I felt miserable — and, if you know me, you know I wore the “I’ve given up sweatpants” to prove it…

After I graduated last year and took the risk of starting new business in strategy and entrepreneurship education, those old attitudes (…and sweatpants 😳) came back.

But, this time was different…

I decided to actually apply all the lessons I learned in feeling my feelings, allowing fear and recognizing the difference between the real me and my ego. (You know, all I’ve learned from the unofficial degree I’m sure most of us perfectionists earned in Self-Help studies.)

Most importantly, I decided that I would get the first and last word on the direction I took in business and life. My experiences inspired the new book I’m writing: The Law of Self-Appointment. In the book, I’ll be sharing what really made the difference for me in finally, and more fully, letting my heart — and Richard Pryor sense of humor 😁 — run the show.

The greatest lesson I’ve learned is that the temptation to put back on those old sweatpants never really goes away.

I have to continually condition my heart and mind to be ok with being misunderstood and showing up anyway. The greatest help for me in personal growth has been working with amazing life coaches.

If you’re curious about life coaching, I’d highly recommend the one I still work with now, Tyson Sharpe. You can get a free, legit and no-obligation session with him right now by visiting this link: http://kathrynbuford.co/tysoncoaching

In the meantime, if you’re on the fence about your next non-traditional step, I hope you remember: We have nothing to prove and nothing to hide.

And, one last thing…
