Excellent article, Douglas. I agree with you completely. I’m reminded of that wonderful realization of screenwriter, Nora Ephron’s, when she was a journalism student (quoted in Made to Stick): “I realized that journalism was not just about regurgitating the facts, but figuring out the point…and why it mattered.” There’s a lot being written these days about teaching kids to code. Maybe it’s time they were taught the craft of journalism too? Then we might see much better writing in business and life generally.
