13 Reasons Why
To those who were already there, nobody will ever forget the footage of that day.
The planes crashing into the towers, people running for their lives as they were engulfed in flames, and then nothing but debris and smoke billowing on the streets. We all remember where we were on 9/11. It changed the world forever. The following are 13 reasons why it is still important to never forget what happened that day:
First, the September 11, 2001 event was the largest terrorist attack on American soil in U.S history. Never have the United States been so openly attacked by an “outside” force.
Second, September 11th is a day to honor not only those who lost their lives in the attacks but also all of the United States’ fallen soldiers and veterans from every war they have been involved with. The United States has always stood for freedom and this event was another reminder that there are still people out there who want to take it away from them — they will never succeed though!
Third, America showed its true colors on September 11th when everyone came together as one nation. It didn’t matter where each one was or what one did; everyone stopped everything they were doing to support each other during times of tragedy such as these ones.
Fourth, because of the events on September 11th, U.S . citizens will never forget how to love and support one another or what it is like when they lose a loved one unexpectedly.
Fifth, a total of 2,977 people were killed that day. Of those deaths, 343 firefighters and paramedics were killed while rushing into burning buildings to save lives. It truly was a devastating loss of frontline lives.
Sixth, as a lesson from the event, the Americans learned that they can make individual differences in the world and should do what they feel is right at all times. This includes doing whatever it takes to help out those who cannot help themselves such as children or people with disabilities, most especially in times of need.
Seventh, because of September 11th, the U.S. celebrates Patriot Day on September 11 every year for individuals who died trying to save others’ lives during the World Trade Center attacks. It is celebrated annually in honor of these brave men and women who gave their lives to save others on that tragic day.
Eighth, most people agree that Americans have become more aware of the importance of homeland security and are focusing their attention on issues they previously did not care about such as terrorism. People, in general, felt a subsequent sense of unity with one another which can also be seen at present, through how many want to help out those who lost family members during horrific events by donating time or money, for example.
Ninth, there were only three documented cases where someone was able to successfully attack America after September 11th due to increased awareness from both citizens and government officials alike regarding these types of events happening again. This is proof that although tragedy struck before it could happen again, but has since been prevented thanks in part due to the renewed diligence and awareness of both citizens and officials after September 11th.
Tenth, another reason why we saw such a large response following this event can be attributed back to how everyone remembers exactly what they were doing when they heard about the news breaking on television or social media outlets, which created an even greater sense of unity among all people living in America at the time.
Eleventh, many families will never forget how lost without hope they felt following this tragedy since so much life was taken from them in just one snap. Everyone felt helpless.
Twelfth, the fact that there were so many families who had to wait days and weeks on end to find out whether their loved ones survived or not made it even more difficult for people.
Lastly, it is important for people to not forget the horrors of that day. This year, on September 11th, please take some time to remember those who lost their lives on that day two decades ago. Please also support our frontline staff by donating money or volunteering to them today.
Although not complete, these thirteen things come to mind because of the 9/11 event. And by no means is it complete. Because there have been many more changes experienced by Americans living in the world. They have changed because of it. And as the world mourns as well as commemorates with them, all those lost, in the senseless game being played by world leaders, people are hoping that maybe this time with the pandemic, things would have changed for the better. Yearning. Hoping. Let’s all hope that truly, may God bless America.
