WHY Do I Have This Zit?
I struggled with skin problems for years as a teen and in my early twenties. It sucked. I hated it. I remember wishing, hoping, and praying for clear skin. Sometimes I feel like I knew what caused it, but other times I felt there was no rhyme or reason to my breakouts.
The typical medical explanation for acne is that it is caused by bacteria on the face, hormonal changes, poor diet, genetics or poor hygiene. I believed this for many years and did my best to make changes that I thought would clear it up.
I used every fancy acne face cleanser, I would wash my face religiously, I dabbed the grease off my pizza, I would put rubbing alcohol on my zits, but alas blemishes would still appear on the regular.
The biggest improvements to my skin occurred after cutting out dairy (after reading the book: Milk the Deadly Poison) and when I started adding in probiotics and sauerkraut to my diet.
When my only explanation for health improvement was lifestyle modifications I would have told you definitively that you must make these changes in order to get results.
What do I think now?
After studying GNM and exploring the 5 Biological Laws and seeing how they reveal themselves in my symptoms and in those I am observing I have evolved my understanding and explanation for acne.
So let’s first look at the origin of the skin type that we are talking about. Just to give you a reference point; have you ever felt a zit coming on? One of those deep ones thatis painful and you know is going to take forever to go away?
That blemish didn’t just pop up on the surface of your skin (epidermis of ectodermal origin) it was coming from somewhere much deeper: your Chorium skin, also known as the dermis.
In German New Medicine knowing the tissue type involved with your symptoms is important for several reasons. First, we want to establish the ontogenetic origin.
When you were but a wee embryo your body was formed from 3 embryonic germ layers: Endoderm, Mesoderm, Ectoderm. The tissue layers developed at different times during the course of evolution. They serve different functions based on what adaptations were needed by the organism at that stage of evolution.
The dermis is of old mesodermal origin (there is a new mesoderm as well that we will discuss another time). The brain region associated with old mesoderm is the cerebellum.
The biological conflict associated with the old mesoderm is an attack conflict or a conflict of feeling soiled. During evolution when life moved on land this layer developed to protect the organism from attack. Now that it wasn’t surrounded water all the time there was a new potential to come into contact unwanted substances which created a sensation of feeling dirty.
So what does that have to do with acne? EVERYTHING. Because of GNM, we know that symptoms and “diseases” don’t just happen out of nowhere. There is no random symptom. We also know that all symptoms are due to our body trying to help us in a literal or symbolic way.
When your unique subjective mind perceives that in some way you are being attacked or soiled immediately a specific section in your cerebellum controlled old mesoderm a Significant Biological Special Program (SBS) is activated. This SBS is communicated via the nervous system to the specific area that feels under attack or soiled.
Again this could be a literal attack like a slap in the face, a pinch, a medical procedure, injections, etc. It could be a figurative attack like verbal abuse, an argument, being criticized, an insult, an accusation.
It could be a literal soiling like getting dirt, grease, or something you perceive as dirty or unwanted on your skin. It could be a figurative soiling such as feeling ugly, ashamed, hearing gossip or “dirty” conversation, coming into contact with a person you find repulsive in some way.
The SBS that was activated is designed to protect you from this attack, to separate you from this soiling, and the Chorium skin does this by proliferating new tissue cells. This build up of cells acts as protection, a barrier, a literal shield from the conflict.
As soon as you resolve the conflict which could be by getting your mind on another subject, resolving the argument, washing your face, etc. the SBS will move into the healing phase. This is where the body returns the tissue to its pre conflict state. The extra tissue cells are no longer required for protection so your body begins at once to dispose of them.
This breakdown process involves swelling (all healing occurs in a fluid environment), bacteria to break down the tissue cells (bacteria are our friends, they are there to serve your needs), in the case of acne propionibacteriumacnes is the bacteria involved, pus, and other exudates necessary for healing.
Thanks to this brilliant model for understanding what is going on in the body and why I know myself better. I have an insight into how I have been perceiving myself and the world around me.
I used to think that any time I would eat out and if I happened to eat something that I didn’t know all of the ingredients and if I found out there were any “bad oils” I would always have a breakout… and so would my boyfriend.
It seemed uncanny that neither of us had issues with certain foods in the past, but now we both have developed an acne response to certain foods.
Oils, whey protein, bread, how mysterious! Is it more likely that we simultaneously developed identical allergies or that we now think so much alike that we have a similar response to certain food.
I also know now that I created an internal experience of “feeling soiled” if I touched my face with unwashed hands or if someone else touched me and would soon have a zit in the exact spot that had been touched. (the particular blemish in the featured image for this article was from touching my face)
You may be thinking that it is the bad oils and the bacteria on my hand that caused the acne, but how does this explain people who eat bad oils daily and have perfect skin? People and kids who touch their faces with dirty, sticky, soiled hands and never get a zit?
German New Medicine takes into account the greatest variability of all: your unique perspective of yourself, the world, and other people. This is the reason there are so many inconsistencies in mainstream medicine. They look at the body like a machine and give little to no regard to the conscious perception of the individual being.
Your mind is the most powerfully creative part of you. Consider all the mysteries of the mind: hallucinations, dreams, new ideas, the placebo effect, premonition, and more. The connections between neurons in your brain out number the stars in the known universe.
There is more to you than you realize. Your symptoms are not random. Your body is always helping you. There is something about the way you are perceiving the world that is causing your body to assist you in some way. Let’s figure out what that way is. Schedule a call with me today for a consultation.
