Understanding Your Current Direction

This Gap Assessment visual was developed as a snapshot of organization spend to align capital budgets with strategy. Along the way we determined that by changing the focus of the snapshot (in the triangle) it could be used to capture how employees are spending time and a variety of other organization measures. Perhaps more importantly, the visual has benefits beyond budgets and corporate resource allocation.

Replacing the four quadrant labels extends the potential value of the visual beyond corporate budgeting. For example applying the visual to the things that matter in your life you might use Family-Community-Work-Self as the quadrant labels. Hint, the things that matter most to you go on the left.

The visual can only raise your awareness by presenting the as-is condition. What you do with the information is beyond the scope of a simple visual. If you choose to use the visual, please share your insights.
