Many North Korean defectors blame China as the country who supports the North Korean government and imprisons and repatriates defectors.
In China, the interviews of the defectors are censored. By typing North Korea in chinese (北朝鲜) on Bilibili 哔哩哔哩 (chinese website equivalent of Youtube), the top suggested videos are about:
- chinese tourists walking around the capital Pyongyang 평양시 and go eat in restaurants, showing how life there seems normal.
- an English tourist on a group visit showing a normal trip to the capital city and the food experience. He seems to recommend the visit
As a consequence, most of Chinese citizens are brainwashed to think that North Korea is a pretty normal country. The manipulation is: the allowed videos on Chinese media only show the life in the capital Pyongyang 평양시, whilst the people who suffer harsh conditions come from the rest of the country.
