THE HUAWEI MATE X2-EVERYTHING WE KNOW
The foldable phone trend is one that is gaining more popularity day by day. With Samsung unveiling the Galaxy Z Fold 2 some days ago, well, we may have another coming to the market. The Mate X2 is another foldable device from the largest smartphone manufacturer, Huawei, and it has received a considerable amount of attention in the past few days. In this post, we will be talking about all we know about the rumoured Huawei Mate X2, its release date, and some of its features.
When it comes to the looks/design, the Huawei Mate X2 will most likely look a lot like the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, but will it be packed with the same features or with better features?
According to Ross Young, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, Huawei will most likely fit the Mate X2 with a display that folds inwards rather than one that folds outwards, based on the information he got from seemingly reliable sources within the display industry.
The device will come with an 8.03” display and a 4.5” external screen. The design of Mate X2 is similar to its predecessors, with the main difference being the way it folds. The phone will feature a Samsung display as Huawei plans to get its panels from the Chinese manufacturer of screens, BOE, and also from one of its competitors, Samsung. Huawei will be using a plastic screen for the Mate X2, unlike the Samsung Z Flip and Fold series that comes with an ultra-thin Glass. I would have thought that the phone would come with a UTG rather than a plastic screen to ensure some form of durability.
Due to the restrictions imposed on Huawei by the US government, Huawei recently announced that it is going to end the production of Kirin Chipset on, Tuesday the 15th of September 2020. It also mentioned that the Huawei Mate 40 series will be the last flagship device that will have the Kirin chipset. However, there is speculation that the Mate X2 will come with Kirin 1000 chipset, with a standard version of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The device may also come in two variations, a 12GB RAM with 256GB storage and a 16GB RAM with 512GB storage. At this time, there is no word or guarantee that Mate X2 will come with a memory card slot. I do hope that Huawei adds a memory card slot to the Mate X2 for people like me who usually run out of storage space due to the number of media files we have on our phones.
Some other features of the Mate X2 include:
- 5G Network Support
- 6,000mAh battery that supports t 65W fast charging technology.
- The device will most likely come with Android 11 and EMUI 11, although there is no word on the software version yet.
- Huawei Pen Stylus may come with the device
- A 40-megapixel main camera, 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto shooter with support for 3x optical zoom, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.
- 16-megapixel selfie camera or a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
The launch date for the Huawei Mate X2 could most likely be in February 2021 following the Unveiling history of Huawei phones, but nothing has been said or confirmed yet.
