3 ways to incorporate more fruit and vegetables into your diet

Dear Nigerian’s, I want to introduce you to a group of diseases known as the lifestyle diseases.

This group of diseases include : certain cancers, heart disease and strokes. The reason they are called lifestyle diseases is we can influence, to some extent, our chances of suffering from these conditions through the lifestyle choice we make.

The main lifestyle choices we can make include decisions around the type of foods we consume, the amount of exercise we do and choices about smoking/alcohol consumption.

Fruit and vegetables are a key component of a healthy diet.

As you can see from the chart above, we no get money. So we must focus on prevention even more than developed countries.

Here are three ways that you can incorporate more fruit and veg into your diet.

1. Have a side salad: You can incorporate a salad as a starter or a side to almost any meal

2. Make your salad a meal: Adding some chicken, cous cous or brown pasta turns your salad into a healthy filling meal

3. Drink your fruit/veg as a smoothie: All you need is a blender to liquefy your veg/fruits and enjoy as a daily snack

We go to church to pray against demons that cause untimely death. But increasing your intake of fruit and vegetables as well as other lifestyle changes can help guard against untimely death too :-)
