Your claims that America is not the greatest, but it used to be, are hard to reconcile. Because on most of the indicators that you suggest – personal safety, availability of health care, child mortality, etc. – America may not be doing as well as it should, but it’s doing better than it used to. If it’s bad now, it was worse in the past.
